| 8:30 A.M. until 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays Fill out app. at probate judge office.
Take app. to sheriff with $30 money order, they take digital prints and keep the app.
Wait for letter in the mail from probate office saying the license is ready.
Either send in $20 check/money order or go to probate office and pick up license with $20 cash/check/money order. Everyone was friendly and helpfull. Didnt take very long to get back, but cost to much. -------------Another Member Says------------- Go to the probate court and the clerk takes your information.
Then take a cashier's check or money order (only these two) for $30 to the Sherriff's office at the jail on North 301.
Then the probate court sends you a notice in the mail and you go back with $20 in a cashier's check or money order and pick it up.
The security guard at the door of the court was rude and made me empty my pockets, take my shoes off, and subjected me to a full patdown search even though I didn't set the metal detector off.
I had to wait 2 hours to be fingerprinted. The guy at the Sherriff's office asked me several times why I wanted a pistol permit, what I wanted to carry, why I wanted to carry, what kind of pistol I'd be carrying, etc. I told him that all of that was none of his business. He then asked me for my social security number, which I refused to give.
The clerk at the probate court and Judge DeLoach were both extremely nice, as was the corporal behind the desk at the sherriff's office/jail, but the security at the court was a jerk and the fingerprinting dude was asking questions he did not need to ask. -------------Received 9/1/2007------------- Bulloch uses live scan and I received my license in just 8 business days. The sherriffs office is still asking for Employer and SSN, just refuse and cite the current law. They accept only Money Orders.
Previously posted material is very accurate on the process description.
