Process: | Arrived at the Candler County Courthouse where the probate judge completed an application on the computer. Gave the probate court a $70 personal check payable to the probate court. Went to the Candler County Sheriff's Department and paid $5 cash to get printed. They are no longer using ink for finger prints. Took the paperwork from the SO back to the probate court, and they said the license should be ready within 10 days. |
Comments: | The probate court recently got a new judge who seems to be more knowledgeable about firearm licenses. Very quick and pleasant experience. HUGE improvement from two years ago where it took an act of congress to get a firearm license.
The time taken for the application and fingerprints was approximately 1 hour including driving time to and from the Sheriff's office for prints. I'll update the time to receive the license once it's in hand. |
