Process: | Go to the Probate Court Clerk in the county courthouse (white building). Show ID/proof of residence. Pay $70 (Dougherty County = $29, PCJRF Firearms = $1, GCIC = $40). They accept cash, check, and most credit cards but do not accept Visa. Answer a few questions. Take completed questionnaire to Sheriff's office in the same building (out the front door of the courthouse, turn left, turn left again and go about 1/2 way down the building). Pay $5. Get fingerprinted (digital). Wait 2-4 weeks to receive notice in the mail. Go back to the Probate Clerk to pick up permit. Good for five years. Total time = about 30 minutes. |
