Process: | The Process is very simple. At the office of the Probate Court, you must fill out some paper work and pay 16 dollars in cash only. For fingerprinting you have to go to the UPS Store next to the Hospital Dr Kroger. This costs $52.90 in a money order payable to COGENS. The Kroger next door has money orders available which must be paid by cash, check or debit card with a one dollar fee. |

Process: | 2nd floor (through metal detectors, leave your knives in the vehicle) to the left of the elevator. Prices are as follows $16 in cash at the probate office and a $52.90 money order at the UPS store for fingerprints. Fill out your paperwork at the probate office, all you need is your $16 in cash and a drivers license with a valid Douglas county address. Once all paperwork is filled out, you will receive a registration number which you have to take to the UPS store located at 8491 Hospital Dr, Douglasville 30134 along with a money order for $52.90 (which can be purchased at the Kroger in the same shopping center). |

Comments: | Douglas County has a very fast and efficient process for obtaining your GFL. It took me about 10 minutes to complete the paperwork, then a short 2 minute drive to the UPS store for fingerprints. The total time taken was about 20 minutes. |

Process: | $31.00 Cash at the Probate Court Office on the Third Floor Then fill out the forms, no SS# or any other info other than the normal have you ever been convicted of.
Clerk gives you a number for your Prints at Cogent, and give you direction to the UPS store and asks if you have a money order for $52.90 and you are asked to raise your right hand and swear under oath that all the info on the application is correct and you tell her I DO and you are on your way. |

Comments: | After 2 weeks had passed I was a little anxious, so I called the clerk's office who told me that my license was ready but they just hadn't stuffed the envelopes and mailed them out yet. She asked if I wanted to come and pick it up at the courthouse, but I told her I would be stuck at work until after they closed so then she said that she could see where I worked on her caller ID and she got in her car and brought it to me. Not kidding. Kudos to the Douglas County Probate Court and their employees as it is not often you can get service from your govt like that anymore. |
