| Open 8am to 4:30pm.
Park in the lot beside the Old Historic Courthouse. The new Courthouse is located at the end of the parking lot. Do not carry any weapons into the courthouse. Pass through the metal detector and take the elevator to the 2nd floor.
Exit the elevator and turn left, about 15 feet down the hall to the right is suite 201, the probate court offices.
The clerk will watch you fill out the form and take you index finger print with temporary ink.
Pay the court $19.25 and they will then give you a slip of paper that contains the following directions:
"Take $5 cash to jail for fingerprinting with receipt from Probate Court. Jail will only fingerprint on Tuesday-Friday 8-11 am or 1-4:30 pm. Call back @ 706-233-0060 in 1 month to see if it is back. $15.00 in cash, money order, or local check for firearms license."
However they tell you to check back in a week instead of a month.
The jail is located on Hwy 53 just as you are about to leave the Rome city limits heading towards Calhoun. It is on the right soon after you pass the Dodge dealership.
At the jail you will enter the set of doors to the left. The doors directly in front of the parking lot lead to the waiting room to see inmates.
After that you wait a week and call the Probate office at (706-233-0060) to see if your permit is ready.
If it is bring $15.00 to the Probate Court Office and receive your permit.
The people at the Jail and the Probate court were all friendly people.
