Member or Court Reported Process: 8:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays

Take exit 124 off I-75 and head West. Take first right onto Chruch Street and cross over Hwy 41. Follow Church Street to Courthouse.

The processing fee is $20 in Bartow County, plus a $24 USPS Money order payable to the GBI for the background check. The fingerprint cards are provided at the Probate Court. You take them with you to the Sheriff's Office, which is just a mile or two away.

There was, of course, the one woman who tried to interject erroneous information, as well as the waiting time to get the Permit back from the GBI, which has gone on now longer than I really think it ought to. But the people at the Probate court were very polite and helpful, and the people at the Sheriff's office, aside from being misinformed, were professional and generally courteous.

Also, Cartersville Main Street is no longer exit 124; its now 288 (I think).

----------------- Received 2/11/08 ----------------------

Went to the Probate Office and ask for a concealed weapons permit application. I was taken to an office by the clerk who entered my info into the system, had me check off the standard form regarding felonies/domestic abuse/controlled substances etc. A few signatures, a index finger print (ink) for my card, and then to a back room where I was finger printed with a digital scanner.

The process & costs are different than what is currently listed on the county's website. The cost is now $46 total, payable to the Probate Office and you do not have to make a trip to the sheriff's office for printing. I paid partially in cash and part in money order based on what I read on the county website.

I was told that I could pick up my permit after what works out to be 10 business days.
