| Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00-11:30am and 1:00-3:30pm however; the sheriff's office (inside courthouse) will not do prints after 4:00pm. Take exit 50 off I-85, take 129 South for approximately five miles, courthouse is on right in city of Jefferson. You will need a valid Georgia driver's license, with current address and county as "078". If your driver's license shows a P.O. box you must present one of the following to establish residency: Jackson County Voter Registration card or current tag receipt showing current physical address in your name.

If renewal, you will also need your old firearms license.
Foreign nationals must have INS resident card. If you are a naturalized US citizen, you should bring your naturalization papers. You must also have 3 months of utility bills in your name and showing your physical address.
After you have completed the application, background check and finger prints it takes approx. 2 weeks at which time you will be mailed your new license or a letter requesting more information
